Hawaii County Fire Department hoisted the unidentified kayakers, ages 8 and 29, into a helicopter off the Kohala coast.
Battalion Chief Steve Loyola said they were not injured.
Winds were blowing 20-35 mph with 45 mph gusts.
The search began at 12:17 p.m. when they were reported missing.
It was unclear what time they were rescued.
The last fire unit returned to its station at 2:27 p.m.
